DIY: Patterned Nails
I’m loving all the cool, patterned manicures that fun-loving chicks like Katy Perry and Roxy Cottontail and have been rocking.
Minx, one of the major companies kicking out nail art, suggests we visit a “nail stylist” to get their cute designs affixed to our digits. Nail stylist? Err…sounds expensive.
So today, I did a little DIY nail art with polish I had kicking around the house. The result? A super cute, Ikat-esque, perfect 10. YESSS! (It reminds me of my favorite Thakoon for Target shirt too!)
Here’s how it’s done: I started by painting two coats of bright white MAC polish on my nails. After it dried, I followed with a few coats of Blue Satin by Chanel. After THAT dried (Total drying time: one episode of Mad Men. BTW, Don Draper proved himself to be SUCH a creep in the season finale, don’t ya think?), I rubbed a bit of remover over the top. That left the design you see here. One clear topcoat later, I had achieved fun nails for free!
Now, I’m obsessed with figuring out other ways to jazz up my nails.
So tell me:
What are your favorite DIY nail polish tricks?
