Dating Workshops for Community Organizations

My basis for the Respecting Yourself In A Relationship workshop

The Date Book: My basis for the Respecting Yourself In A Relationship workshop

After writing The Date Book, I created a workshop for teen girls on how to create great dating relationships. I first gave the workshop at the Girls For A Change annual Girl Summit last year. The summit is attended by more than a thousand girls who live in and around the San Jose area.  Since, I’ve given the workshop to girls involved in nonprofit organizations.

The goals of the workshop are:

  • To get teens thinking about what constitutes a positive relationship
  • To give teens information on ways to form these types of relationships and how to detect red flags in a new relationship
  • To get teens to create their own positive personal dating guidelines and think about doing this for each new person they date
  • To get teens thinking about how they can continue to maintain integrity, honor and respect in their new relationships throughout life.

In the 45-minute sessions, the teens and I discuss what makes healthy relationships, how to forge them and when to recognize and get out of a bad one. And we dish about boys and if we’re lucky, check out the swag bags I’ve put together for the girls. Good stuff! If you’d like to have me bring my workshop to your group, email Erika.
